Happy Tuesday pretty friends! Today I wanted to start out by saying thank you for following along my foodie adventures. As many of you know I am passionate about food and sharing everything about it- places to eat, recipes to make, nutrition facts- all things food!! I appreciate you taking the time to stop in and read my food posts! I hope you learn something new or get inspired to eat at a new restaurant every time you visit my blog. Speaking of something new- lets dive into todays restaurant.
Last week I had the pleasure of trying out Atlanta’s hottest new sushi restaurant, O-Ku. Inspired by its sister restaurant in Charleston, O-Ku Atlanta provides a fresh and innovative take on traditional Japanese sushi and cuisine. It offers rare and unique dining options along with traditional sashimi and specialty rolls, sourcing seafood from the finest fish markets in Tokyo and Hawaii alongside local and seasonal ingredients.
Reminiscent of traditional Japanese culture, O-Ku’s menu is comprised of signature starters, contemporary Japanese entrées and seasonal traditional sushi that reflect the uniquely designed space. The beverage program is built around quality ingredients that celebrate Japanese culture and Atlanta’s best purveyors with a sophisticated blend of specialty cocktails along with premium sake, wine, and local beer selections.
I can honestly tell you that O-Ku is one of the best restaurants I have eaten at in Atlanta. From the moment you walk in you can see that O-Ku is different from other sushi restaurants in the city. You can choose to sit downstairs, at the sushi bar or even outside on their spacious rooftop and bar overlooking the Midtown skyline. If you are hungry I recommend sitting downstairs since the rooftop has a limited menu. I also recommend requesting Simon to be your waiter. He was extremely knowledgeable and made excellent recommendations.
What To Try
A few dishes I recommend trying on your next visit-
What to drink:
Sugar + Spice: habanero infused vodka. high west double rye. smoked pecan. passionfruit. lemon. sugar rim.
What to start with:
Salmon Tartare: wasabi guacamole, yuzu tobiko, truffle micro greens
Otoro Spoons: otoro tartare, uni {sea urchin}, soy, scallion, caviar
What to order next:
Crème de la Crème: otoro, truffle shavings, caviar
Yakiniku Wagyu: seared wagyu beef with bbq sauce, scallion
Black Magic Roll: squid ink rice, lobster, masago aioli and scallions
I hope my suggestions help you on your next visit to O-Ku. Since they fly all their fish in from Hawaii and Japan, anything you order will not disappoint. And make sure you take advantage of their sushi happy hour Mondays and Wednesdays! Whether you are looking for a fresh new sushi spot or you are looking for a place to grab drinks with a view, O-Ku should be on the top of your A list.
