Happy Monday friends! Today I am kicking off my first ever baby week on the blog! Only took me a year to do ha! I’m going to be sharing my current favorite baby brands, baby smoothie recipes and much more! First up, is some car seat safety!
As many of you know, my sweet baby boy turned ONE last month. After crying myself to sleep {kidding!} I put away all his baby clothes, bottles and old car seat. I replaced his old carseat with this new, award wining Sirona M with SensorSafe 2.0! Now let me start by saying that this is like the Cadillac of carseats! I say that because it’s big, comfortable and incredibly safe.
CYBEX Sirona M with SensorSafe 2.0
The newest addition to the CYBEX Gold Car Seat family, the Sirona M with SensorSafe 2.0 integrates important safety technology into the chest clip of the car seat to alert when unsafe situations arise. This innovative new technology allows us parents to leave our worries at the front doorstep and drive safely with our babes!
Originally developed to prevent the rising number of infant hot car deaths, SensorSafe 2.0 goes a step further to monitor the well being of our children while the vehicle is in motion. Whether you accidentally leave the child alone in the car {God forbid!} or the child unbuckles herself, the essential alert will go off through both the vehicle receiver and the your cellphone. It also alerts your emergency contacts if no action is taken.
Our Experience
For those of you who know me well, you know safety is everything to me. And now more than ever, the safety of Robinson is my everything. Driving can be very scary in Atlanta so finding a safe carseat was an absolute must for me. From the minute I pulled out our new Sirona M carseat, I could see and feel how safe it would be. It’s spacious and made with heavy duty material. Robinson fits in it perfectly and comfortably!
I also love the Sensorsafe alert system it comes with. It gives me peace of mind because it will notify me if Robinson comes unbuckled or if the temperature gets to cold or too hot.
Note About Alerts
We want it to be super clear that the alerts do not just happen through the phone. There is a small vehicle receiver that is installed in the vehicle OBD2 port and that is what connects to the smartphone. This is important because if the receiver is not installed, the phone will not get alerts, but most importantly, it is illegal in many states to use your cellphone while you are driving. Therefore, do not check these alerts while you are driving! The alerts are meant to be that- alerts! Check them after you are done driving.
Five Car Seat Safety Tips
- Under no circumstances should a car seat be used on a passenger seat where there’s an airbag.
- Not all car seats fit all cars and it is important to check for fitting suitability on all cars you intend fitting the seat to, as well as re-checking if you change your car. Carefully review your vehicle owner’s manual for additional information on car seat installation.
- A study published in Pediatrics, showed for children newborn to 3 years old sitting in the center rear seat is 43% safer than sitting on the side in the back.
- Put children in a rear-facing position for as long as possible, preferably until they are at least 2 years old or when they have outgrown the rear-facing height or weight limits of their car seat.
- The harness should be snug enough that you cannot pinch the webbing between your two fingers when testing at the child’s shoulders. The chest clip should be placed at armpit level. When rear-facing the harness straps should be at or below the child’s shoulders. When forward-facing the harness straps should be at or above the child’s shoulders.
If you are in the market for a new carseat, I highly recommend the Sirona M with SensorSafe 2.0. I wish we would have found it earlier since it’s perfect for newborns as well. Nevertheless, we are thankful we found it now for our one year old!
