The Artistic Uprising event is kicking off One Billion Rising Atlanta next Monday, February 1. The evening will feature Eve Ensler, Tony Award winning playwright, activist and author of The Vagina Monologues. The event will take place from 7-9 pm at Grace Midtown Church, 642 Northside Dr. NW, Atlanta, GA 30318.
Eve will be speaking about her work to end violence against women including the sex trafficking issues in Atlanta. According to FBI statistics, Atlanta ranks among the top 14 cities in the United States for domestic minor sex trafficking with 300 girls across Atlanta lured into trafficking every month. One Billion Rising is the biggest mass action to end violence against women in human history. The campaign began as a call to action based on the staggering statistic that 1 in 3 women on the planet will be beaten or raped during her lifetime. With the world population at 7 billion, this adds up to more than ONE BILLION Women and Girls.
A talented group of drummers, musicians and slam poets will also perform during the evening. Let me know if you would like to attend with a guest and I’ll add you to the VIP list. Buy your tickets here- www.onebillionrisingatlanta.net
