Last weekend Andrew and I had the pleasure of dining at The Ritz Carlton’s Atlanta Grill during their Three Course Apple Dinner week long special. This special menu was designed to support the hotel’s local Community Footprints efforts, the brand’s social and environmental responsibility program. From each dinner, 15 percent of the proceeds were donated to the Atlanta Community Food Bank, where it will be used to support local causes such as child well-being, environmental responsibility and hunger and poverty relief. The Ritz-Carlton, Atlanta has supported the Atlanta Community Food Bank through volunteering and fundraising for the past 15 years.
“We have been grateful for the hotel’s support over the years as part of their Community Footprints efforts, and the proceeds from the October dinner will help feed our local families in need,” said Kyle Waide, President and CEO of Atlanta Community Food Bank. “From each of the Autumn Apple Dinners sold, we will be able to provide $45 in groceries for someone in need.”
From the moment we arrived we were treated like royalty. Our lovely hostess made sure to sit us out on the balcony, where we could enjoy the view of downtown Atlanta. The restaurants sommelier then came out to welcome us and explain the wine pairing that came with each course. Executive chef Ramesh Kaduru, the creative culinary force behind the menu’s conception, began the three-course, prix-fixe menu with an apple and kale salad with toasted pumpkin seeds, honey crisp apple, candied beets and apple vinaigrette. The entrée course featured a choice of crispy pork belly with apple confit, creamed farro and sorghum glaze, or pan-seared crispy duck with sweet potato puree, apple chutney and apple jus. I went with the pork belly, while Andrew went with the crisp duck breast. It was a huge toss up to see whose dish won so we left it at a tie. Chef de Cuisine, Josh Fryer came out to tell us that the pork belly had been cured for 2 days then braised for 4 hours. It was incredibly tender and packed with flavor. The duck breast was also cooked to perfection! Finally, for dessert, chef Kaduru will serve a classic French apple tatin and apple sorbet. Everything was absolutely divine!
Chef Josh informed us that various dishes from the 4-course menu will continue being featured in their fall menu. Whether you are wanting to celebrate a romantic anniversary, or just want to eat somewhere fabulous- Atlanta Grill at the Ritz Carlton is right for you.
