What does a pretty porch, warm weather and delicious Southern cuisine all have in common? Well the answer is quite simple- they can all be found at the new South City Kitchen Buckhead. This delectable, contemporary Southern cuisine is home to Atlanta’s award winning buttermilk fried chicken (voted by readers like you- read more here). They have now opened their third and newest location in the heart of Buckhead on Peachtree. Like their sister restaurants in South City Kitchen Midtown and South City Kitchen Vinings, South City Kitchen Buckhead serves sophisticated southern cuisine that’s never stuffy and always satisfying. Nestled between the high-rises of Buckhead on Peachtree Street, they offer an array of dishes for everyone to enjoy for lunch, brunch and dinner.
Last week I was lucky enough to be one of the first to eat at the new South City Kitchen Buckhead. The new location is spectacular- traditional southern decor meets modern touches. We were seated on the top floor where we had a great view of Buckhead. We were greeted by friendly staff who told us about the new menu. We took our waiters suggestions and started with two Country Thyme Lemonades, classic fried green tomatoes and pimento cheese platter. The fried green tomatoes came with goat cheese and red pepper coulis that was to die for! I highly recommend ordering a round of those when you arrive.
For main entrees we went with the Quail and the Shrimp and Grits. My lovely date Kristin is from Wyoming and had never had Shrimp and Grits. She absolutely loved them! They were packed with flavor and freshness. I ordered the Quail which came covered in a creole mustard glaze, marble potatoes, baby gem, roasted asparagus and whipped goat cheese. Best quail I have ever had!
But what definitely took the cake {see what I did there} was the dessert- sour dough beignets topped with pecan pie filling and a bourbon anglaise. Trust me friends, even if you don’t take my advice on anything else- you must get these for dessert. They were to die for!!
Not much of a southern food kinda person? Not to worry- South City Kitchen Buckhead still has you covered. With options like Pan Seared Swordfish, Red Quinoa & Spicy Field Arugula and even a gluten-friendly menu– there is something for the whole family. I would highly suggest enjoying a Sunday brunch on their porch this summer. It just doesn’t get much better than that!
