Happy Tuesday my friends! Today I want to tell you a little about a phenomenal restaurant here in Atlanta called Gypsy Kitchen. This delectable restaurant draws inspiration from the culinary riches of Spain – infused with Moroccan traditions from across the Gibraltar and Indian influences that travelled west along the same seas. Centuries of interplay between these food traditions and lands inspires our Iberian fusion plates.
Gypsy Kitchen also brings you the best of modern day Spanish cuisine, a sophisticated mix of traditional classics artfully interpreted through a contemporary lens, tracing through the eclectic regions of Spain, from the southwest coast of Andalusia to the Basque and Galician regions to the north, and then east to Catalonia. These creations are the fruits of their labor and are the result of years of joyful research from extensive travels throughout Spain, much like gypsies on a culinary adventure.
Andrew and I had the pleasure of trying out Gypsy Kitchen for the first time last week. As you can see by my photos everything was beautifully displayed. We started out with ordering two of their most famous drinks- The Seville Rose {Vodka, Roses & Spice, Egg White, Lemon, Soda{ and Leather & Silk {Gin, Chartreuse, Velvet Falernum, Lime}. They were crisp, fresh and easy to drink!
To get the full experience, Chef picked out some of their most popular tapas- tortilla espagnole, foie gras escabèche, chickpea pancakes, yellowfin tuna tartare stuffed into piquillo peppers and a charcuterie and cheese board. Everything was exquisite but the chickpea pancake was my favorite. They are gluten free and are made fresh every day.
After all these amazing tapas we moved on to the main course. Andrew got the Georges bank cod which came with green onion pil pil, glazed eggplant and black garlic migas. I went with their most popular dish- seafood paella “fried rice”which came with clams, mussels, shrimp, peas, red pepper-chorizo salazon PLUS a fried egg on top. YUM! Both dishes were great but after one bite I could see why the fried rice is the most popular dish!
Finally we finished the night with their chocolate cake bar and their white Spanish cake. The chocolate cake has a little bit of pepper dust added to it, giving each bite a slight kick! Phenomenal!
Gypsy Kitchen is located in the Shops of Buckhead off Peachtree Road. You can park in the garage and get your ticket validated at the restaurant. If the weather permits, I highly recommend you sit out on the porch. Whether you are looking for a delicious restaurant to try with your significant other, or you are looking for a place to drink with your girls- Gypsy Kitchen won’t disappoint.
