Happy Friday pretty friends! Who is ready for the weekend? I sure am! And what better way to celebrate this beautiful weather than to sit on a porch and drink some delicious mimosas. At least that’s what I plan to do all weekend! Isn’t patio weather the best? Right now in Atlanta the weather is ideal for it because it’s not too cold, not too hot- all you need is a light jacket {name that movie? hehe}. But really, it truly is what makes spring in Atlanta so much fun.
One restaurant that is perfect for patio season is The Cockentrice, located in the famous Krog Street Market. The Cockentrice is Chef Kevin Ouzts’ celebration of charcuterie and long-awaited execution of meat cookery — melding traditional and modern cooking techniques plucked from the rich heritage of the Southern United States and beyond.
With this first restaurant, Chef Ouzts is in the kitchen to share his passion for details with Atlanta’s dining scene. Together with his culinary team as well as on-site butchers purveying the finest pastured meats and cheese mongers partnering hand-in-hand with premium local dairies, Chef Ouzts presents a decisive menu utilizing the preeminent ingredients he’s become known for at The Spotted Trotter. Think fire-grilled, smoked, roasted, sous vide, barded, and larded dishes, cooked in an open kitchen that will celebrate new American cooking techniques while still paying homage to the thousands-year-old traditions of charcuterie and meat cookery. Indeed, together with its guests, The Cockentrice hopes to put New American Charcuterie on the map in the Southeast and beyond.
My best friend and I decided to put the patio to the test and grabbed brunch there last weekend. We started out with mimosas and bloody Mary’s and their famous charcuterie board. As you can see by my pictures- the board was bright and beautiful! It came with pickled vegetables, meats, cheeses and bread from H&F. You can either build your own charcuterie board OR grab one composed by the chef. We went with the chefs board so we could try his favorites and boy was it delicious!! We then moved on and ordered their grilled cheese sandwich and their mac and cheese sausage plate. YUM! The grilled cheese sandwich was extra rich and packed with flavor. As you can see we had a cheesy time! Bad joke?
Whether you want to sit on a porch and enjoy a large selection of local brews or you want to grab a delicious bite to eat, The Cockentrice is your headquarters for porch season.
