Happy Tuesday friends! Today is such a special post because we are sharing some big news- we are having a little baby! I announced it on Instagram Christmas day but in case you missed it, we are having a baby boy April 2017. Just when we thought this year couldn’t have gotten better we got the amazing news that we were pregnant. We are truly thankful and humbled that God has blessed us with this tremendous gift.
One of my favorite bloggers, Katey from Chronicles of Frivolity does a really cute blog series called “Bumpdate” every few weeks where she shares updates on her pregnancy. I absolutely love keeping up with her so thought I would do the same! I hope that you will join on us on this life-changing journey as we welcome our first baby.
Our Little Peach
How far along: I am 23 weeks-almost six months pregnant! We decided to wait this long to announce because of my job situation.
When did you find out: We actually found out three days before leaving to Greece. I was a little late and called one of my best friends who has kids and she told me to go ahead and take a test to make sure. And good thing I did because I had full intentions of drinking a lot of wine in Greece! I actually took the test in a Target bathroom! That Target will always have a special place in my heart.
How did you tell your husband: The reason why I wanted to take the test in Target was so I could find a special way of telling him. I had been away that weekend and hadn’t seen him in a few days so I picked up a sweet baby card and put the test inside the card. When I got home I had a few little gifts for him so I gave him the other gifts then the envelope. He could not believe it and kept hugging me with excitement.
How are you feeling: I am extremely lucky to say that I have had a blissful pregnancy. I’ve read various articles that say about 30% of women don’t get sick during pregnancy. I am so thankful to be one of those! The first trimester I was extremely tired- going to bed before 8pm sometimes. Second trimester I started getting upper abdominal discomfort from baby pushing on my ribs. Other than that I feel amazing and really enjoying being pregnant!
Cravings: This is probably the question I get the most! In the beginning I didn’t necessarily crave anything but certain things did (and still do) taste better since I’ve been pregnant- like oatmeal, orange juice and anything sweet. I have been really good about what I’ve been eating but of course treat myself every once in a while. My current favorite thing is what my sister and I call “fluffy fluffy snow”- Asian shaved ice cream with fruit and condensed milk. I liked it before but now it’s my only true craving. I asked my darling husband to take me twice the week before Christmas. The good thing is one serving of Suno has 90% less calories than ice cream. I also eat a lot of fruits, vegetables and whole milk!
Weight Gain: You’re probably going to laugh (keep in mind that I am 4’11) but I finally broke 100 pounds for the first time in my life last week. I started out at 92 pounds and I am now at 102 pounds. So far I’m on track for a healthy weight gain!
Are you excited about having a boy: Absolutely! I only told my husband this-but I was hoping we would have a boy first. This might sound strange but way before I even got pregnant I would have dreams that I had a baby boy. I even told all my friends to mark my words so if I did have a boy first they could be witnesses to my story! We first thought it was a girl because of all the old wives tales- fast heart beat, Chinese calendar etc. I wanted to know the gender ASAP so we did the Harmony Genetics Test and were shocked when they told us it was a boy! I am ready to have a little mamma’s boy!
A special thanks to my friend Megan from Megan Quintana Makeup for doing my hair and makeup for this very special shoot. We actually met specifically for this shoot and I absolutely loved her work! I highly recommend reaching out to her for all your makeup needs!
And last but never least, a huge thanks to the very talented Shelby from Shelby Rae Photographs for taking these pictures. She is currently booking weddings, fashion shoots, portraits and headshots for 2017 so hurry and email her- (shelbyraephotographs@gmail.com) for a quote.
