Today’s blog post is sponsored but all photography and opinions are my own.
Happy Tuesday pretty friends! Today let’s continue talking about snacking- one of my favorite subjects!! I have a lot of patients that ask me- Okay if I can’t eat my junk food, what can I eat? I try to always give them various examples of healthier options. One of them is the snack program, Graze. When I was in graduate school, I absolutely LOVED my Graze membership! Every few weeks {you decide how often} you get new, delicious snacks delivered to your doorstep. And now Graze will offer Superfoods like Chia Seeds and Acai Berry mix to add to your snacks! I’m going to show you how easy it is to make a nutritious dessert!
About Graze
Graze was started by seven friends sick of chips and candy, who wanted a better way to snack.
They quit their jobs and camped out in a friend’s spare room for months and after a lot of hard work, graze.com was born – snacks that show off the tasty side of health and are delivered directly to you.
Graze knows the secret to great tasting food is creativity so their specialized Taste Team are always in the kitchen. Their sole mission is to discover exciting flavors and create delicious new combinations that will delight your taste buds.
It’s not just the unique combinations and flavors that make Graze snacks great, it’s their dedication to find the highest quality ingredients. Some people think that an almond is just an almond, but once you’ve tried Californian almonds with their sweet yet spicy salsa mesquite seasoning, you’ll never look at an almond in the same way again.
I also love that Graze has a nutritionist on board that makes sure you are getting the best ingredients sent to your doorsteps.
Chia Seeds Nutrition
Chia seeds are one of the easiest ways to add fiber to your diet because they have zero flavor. Fiber is a great nutrient because it helps keep your cholesterol down and helps you go potty! I love to add chia seeds to my daily yogurt bowls, but sometimes I like to make something a little more filling like this chia seed pudding. Sometimes I even add granola, sliced bananas and roasted coconut chips to make it a delicious breakfast on the go. You’ve got your fruit, your healthy fats, fiber and plant-powered protein. Bam! Easy as pie- or seed pudding!
Here are a few fun facts about chia seeds taken from Authority Nutrition:
- They are loaded with nutrients that can have important benefits for your body and brain
- By weight, they are about 14% protein, which is very high compared to most plants
- Chia seeds are loaded with antioxidants
- Many health experts believe that chia seeds can help with weight loss. The fiber absorbs large amounts of water and expands in the stomach, which should increase fullness and slow the absorption of food
- 1 ounce (28 grams) serving of chia seeds contains:
- Fiber: 11 grams.
- Protein: 4 grams.
- Fat: 9 grams (5 of which are Omega-3s).
- Calcium: 18% of the RDA.
- Manganese: 30% of the RDA.
- Magnesium: 30% of the RDA.
- Phosphorus: 27% of the RDA.
- They also contain a decent amount of Zinc, Vitamin B3 (Niacin), Potassium, Vitamin B1 (Thiamine) and Vitamin B
Pretty incredible that you can get so much out of a tiny little seed, right? Once you make your first batch of chia seed pudding you can start experimenting with other fun flavors- like adding baby spinach, peanut butter, or any fruit to your pudding. Let me know how it goes!
