Happy Friday friends! Today is an exciting day because I can finally share our beautiful new chicken coop with you! We have worked so hard on this little home for our girls and it’s quickly become my pride and joy.

Finding the Perfect Carpenter
In case you missed it, a couple months ago I wrote an initial post on everything I had learned about raising chickens for the first time. One of the things I addressed is how unsatisfied I was with the small coop we bought from Amazon. I decided it was time to invest and get a carpenter to build us a better coop before it got cold outside.
Since I didn’t personally know any carpenters I went to Facebook Marketplace to find one that could tackle our project. I posted a photo of my coop inspiration from Pinterest and almost immediately started getting messages. The one that stuck out the most was from a professional carpenter named Woodshop Mike. From our initial conversation, Mike was very professional and easy to talk to. He asked what my budget was and then told me what he could do with that amount. He then sent me a link to his website and I got to see his beautiful work! Although I had various great carpenters to pick from, I had a good feeling about Mike so decided to work with him.
After putting down a deposit on our coop, Mike sent me his initial plans for approval. He also gave me a timeline for when he could have our chicken coop ready for delivery. He stuck to his plan and delivered our coop right on schedule! It truly couldn’t have been a more seamless process!
Chicken Coop Details
In order to keep the cost down, we had Mike deliver our coop without any of the details- no paint or chicken wire. After he placed it exactly where we wanted it in our yard, we immediately got to painting! We used PPG Timeless Glacial Ice (PPG1014-1) with eggshell finish, which was recommended by Mike for durability. We also added small window shutters and painted them PPG Simply Elegant blue (PPG1155-3).
After we finished painting the coop, we attached the chicken wire (we used hardware cloth for the best protection) to the run. Then came the fun part, the coop decor! I was going for the simply elegant, farm chic look so I kept everything minimal. I found the perfect lantern at Pottery Barn to hang outside of the coop and added a welcome mat from Target. I then added a few boxwoods that I found at the Atlanta State Farmers Market which were probably my favorite chicken coop purchases! The final touch was the beautifully handwritten signs that my friend Kenan Hill made for us!
For the inside I added vinyl flooring that I found for under $30 at Ollie’s Bargain Outlet. I went with vinyl so it would be easy to clean and so it could protect the wood floor. I also added small curtains in order to keep heat from escaping and added a little chandelier {similar one here}! You can’t have a pretty hen house without a chandelier!
The Prettiest Chicken Coop
I hope you love my new chicken coop as much as I do! Make sure you follow along via Instagram because I will be doing a tour of the coop very soon! Also, if you are in the market for a new coop, Woodshop Mike has been kind enough to provide Peaches to Pearls readers with a promo code for 15% off his chicken coop plans (regularly $25) OR your very own custom made chicken coop!! Just mention WSMCOOP when you request a quote!
A special thanks to my friend Shelby from Shelby Rae Photographs for capturing these stunning photos! If you are in Atlanta and need professional photos taken, reach out to Shelby- she’s amazing!

Congratulations! It is beautiful! Do you mind sharing what your total investments was? We got chickens last weekend and have a few weeks before it’s time to Move them, but I definitely need to make some decisions on a coop! Just wondering What a realistic number is… thanks!
Hi! Budget is under $3000 on everything- chickens, coop, coop material, hutch, food etc. I hope that helps! XO
I would love to see pictures of the inside of the coop. Do you have any?
Yes! Here is the link: http://peachestopearls.com/inside-hammett-farms-chicken-coop/
Hello! Where are you located? This coop is gorgeous and we are wanting one that you can walk into for easy cleaning! Also… can I ask what your budget was for this? thanks a million!! 💜
We are located in Atlanta, Georgia! Budget is under $3000 on everything- chickens, coop, coop material, hutch, food etc. I hope that helps! XO
Such a cute coop. Can you tell me how many gallons of paint it took?
and did you use the exterior PPG Timeless Glacial Ice (PPG1014-1) with eggshell finish? I can’t seem to find the exterior in an eggshell finish.
Can you tell me what plants you have in the pots???
Hi Samantha! They are both boxwoods! 🙂
Can I ask where you found the hook for the lantern?
I love your dress! May I ask where it is from?

love your style Luisa! adorable coop — we are building for our two pet ducks. however, if you are considering building Be aware — it is quite small –only 5’x5′ with short doorway and limited interior height. not sure how you did a chandelier as the ceiling height is so limited. if building, I would consider a bit bigger 6×6 with at least 6.5 or 7 ft ceiling clearance and adjust with taller entrance door. We are adjusting height.
How often do you clean out the coop and what do you do with all the waste that comes out of it? I would love backyard chickens but do not own enough property to be able to just dump the waste on my property. Thanks!
Hi, I have chickens, and once you get into the weekly routine of cleaning them out it becomes a part of your life. Chicken poop does not smell and it gives you a chance to get closer to them whilst doing a good job.
What kind of plants are in the pots? Gorgeous!
Are there any pictures of the inside of the coop?
Hi Luisa! Was wondering if you had a post on how you set up the run? Like what is the initial flooring and do you add leaves, compost or bark inside that area?
Thankyou for such a pretty look!
Danielle
Where did you get your hat from? And how much?
Ta, Chloe
where did you get the cute shutters for the outside?
