Happy Wednesday my friends! I hope you are having a wonderful week so far. Today I have a special post for you- I have a holiday challenge for you. The holidays can be a pretty crazy time for us all- buying gifts for the family and close friends can get exhausting! But its all worth it when they open their gifts with a huge smile on their faces, right? Well do you ever stop to think about all the children who won’t be opening up gifts this year? Probably not because its a pretty sad thought to think about during this exciting holiday time. My challenge for YOU is to change at least one child’s life this holiday season by donating to a great cause. Toys For Tots is an example of an outstanding organization to donate to this year but I have a more personal one to share with you today.
This past semester I had the privilege of teaching 14 students at the Atlanta Missions Homeless Shelter. I taught students 3rd-5th grade about making healthier choices and how to cook easy snacks. When I first got there I was a little intimidated and didn’t know what to expect. But every expectation I had was thrown out the window from the very start. My little students were kind, obedient, and eager to learn. A lot of them already knew a good bit about nutrition which made me so happy! I got to know a few of my students well and they shared their stories with me. Some of them had been living at the shelter with their siblings and mother for months now.
This year for Christmas I have teamed up with My Sisters House (which is the homeless shelter for women and children at Atlanta Missions) to help get people together to donate gifts to the women and children at the shelter. The gifts don’t have to be anything special- just enough to bring joy to these precious children and their mothers. If you are interested in donating please contact me immediately! I will pull a name from the Christmas tree and will give you the details for your child or mother. All gifts need to be mailed by this Friday in order to get to me on time. If you live in Atlanta I can come meet you to pick up the gifts. On December 10th we will be having a big party where Santa will make an appearance with all the gifts. Can you imagine the smiles on these children’s faces when they see Santa with presents for them?
Thank you friends and I hope you accept my challenge!

I Love doing a little bit of charity all the time! My work has a toys for tots running now that I’ve already donated to! I have always wanted to get involved with the big brother/ big sister group. I would love to be able to mentor a kid who needs some good influence in their life!
