Happy Monday friends! As many of you know by know, the Georgia Aquarium is one of my absolute favorite places to visit in Atlanta. In fact, I went 4 times in 2017! One of the things I love most about the Aquarium is how they keep things fresh, fun and interesting for all ages. They offer a bunch of different programs, events and activities for families, for young adults, for young kids, for couples … for anyone!
And while we’re making all of these precious memories surrounded by more than 10 million gallons of water and hundreds of aquatic animals, we’re supporting the Aquarium’s research and conservation efforts for these very inhabitants with each ticket we purchase.
To make it easier for me, and you, to decide the best events and attractions to attend, I’ve created this 2018 Bucket List to make sure we don’t miss a single thing at Georgia Aquarium this year.
Georgia Aquarium Bucket List 2018
1: Animal Encounters and Interactions
Growing up on the coast of Florida, I’ve always had an intense appreciation and love for the sea and all its inhabitants. Did you know Georgia Aquarium offers personal animal encounters and interactions beyond visiting the galleries and experiencing the presentations? Sign me up, please!
You can meet the penguins and sea otters, or swim with the whale sharks. These encounters and interactions make great gifts for your loved ones, too! I’m going to be doing one of these interactions next month! Can you guess which one I signed up for??
2: Sips Under the Sea
Looking for some after-hours grownup fun under the sea? Georgia Aquarium’s Sips Under the Sea events are uniquely themed cocktail parties for adults to enjoy the Aquarium after hours with music, signature cocktails and delicious small plates.
Last summer, I attended my first Sips Under the Sea Glow Party with a bunch of my gal pals last summer and had an absolute blast! It was so neat to see the aquarium at night! Mark you calendar (like I have) for your favorite Sips Under the Sea themed event:
- Cupid’s Crush , Feb 9
- The 90s, March 16
- Prom, May 11
- Tailgate, Aug. 24
- Halloween, Oct. 26
- New Year’s Eve Celebration, Dec. 31
And if you’re looking for a more VIP experience, you’re in luck! You can purchase VIP tickets to any Sips Under the Sea event and you’ll receive early entry into the Aquarium at 6 p.m. (1 hour before everyone else) and enjoy two drink tickets and two tickets for the tapas that will be served
3: Aqua Vino
Another can’t-miss after-hours event at Georgia is Aqua Vino. This is definitely a favorite of mine! Aqua Vino is Georgia Aquarium’s premier wine and food that helps support their vital research and conservation efforts.
During the event, guests sample wines from around the world and enjoy cuisine from 20 of Atlanta’s favorite restaurants while exploring that galleries that house more than 500 aquatic animals. Foodies welcome!
This annual event is scheduled for Sept. 21, 2018. Stay tuned for more details and what animal the proceeds will benefit. Last year, proceeds supported research and conservation for bottlenose dolphins.
4: Workout by the Water
How awesome does yoga in front of the whale sharks sound? Now you can visit the Georgia Aquarium and keep those New Year’s Resolutions in tact with Workout by the Water
This is a new monthly offering at Georgia Aquarium and I can’t wait to try it! Workout by the Water offers yoga, pilates and bootcamp classes led by local fitness instructors.
Classes are designed to challenge students of all experience levels. Workouts take place in the magnificent Oceans Ballroom, offering incredible views of manta rays and whale sharks guaranteed to motivate you to become a healthier, and happier, YOU!
Each class is just $10 and takes place from 6:30-7:30 p.m. All proceeds from Workout by the Water benefit Georgia Aquarium’s research and conservation initiatives. Get the full schedule here.
5: Toddler Time
Now that Robinson is old enough to understand more of the aquarium, I plan on taking him more often! This year, I’d like to take him to Toddler Time. Offered the first Monday each month, Toddler Time enables you to visit the Georgia Aquarium with your toddler without the time or cost commitment of a general admission ticket. Each month features a different animal encounter and theme.
During the 1.5 hour experience, children get to meet and learn about an approachable animal during a special introduction to marine life, enjoy a costumed character appearance, story time, craft activities and a small snack. Sounds so adorable, right?
6: Red, White & Brew, July 4
It’s never too early to think about how you and your friends will be celebrating our great country on Independence Day.
I can’t wait to check out Georgia Aquarium’s annual Red, White & Brew this year! It’s one huge party celebrating America in the Ocean’s Ballroom with unlimited beer sampling, classic BBQ, live music, oh, and more than 500 aquatic species.
Save the date: Wednesday, July 4 from 6:30-10 p.m.
I hope this list inspires you to spend some time at one of my favorite spots. As you can see the Georgia Aquarium has something fun for everyone in the family! While you’re there don’t forget to stop by their newest exhibit, the precious Puffins! You won’t want to miss the new little seabirds!
Enjoy!
