Happy Wednesday friends! As promised, today I will be sharing my current skin care routine! Back when I turned thirty, I promised myself I would take my daily beauty routine seriously. Before then I would occasionally get facials, inconsistently wash my face and not spend a lot of money on products. But all that changed since turning thirty. I am proud to say I have definitely seen a difference since getting serious about my skin care.
I came up with my current skin care routine with the help of various professionals. One of those being the very wise estheticians at Aya Medical Spa here in Atlanta. I love how they are willing to share their knowledge with me and send me home with various pieces of advice. If you are creeping into your thirties, or just need a new routine that actually works, this post is for you!
Daily Morning and Night Routine
Step 1: Cleanse- Even when I’m exhausted I make it a point to always, always wash my face. I was using Garnier micellar water for a bit but I honestly did not like it. My face did not feel clean after and I just wasn’t a fan. Lately I’ve been alternating between Burt’s Bees Renewal Face Wash and Erborian Solid Cleaning Oil. Going back and forth has been great for my dry skin.
Step 2: Toner – It always surprises me how much dirt/makeup is left on my face after washing it. That’s why I’m a huge fan of using toner! I currently use the Rose Water Facial Toner from Trader Joe’s and absolutely love it! I’ve noticed it doesn’t dry out my face like other toner do. And its only $4!
Step 3: Serum- This step is critical if you have dry skin like me. I learned this tip a few years ago during my first facial down in Florida. Using serum not only provides your skin with extra hydration but it also allows your moisturizer to fully absorb into your skin.
Specific reasons to use facial serums in your skincare regime include:
- repairing sun damage and reducing wrinkles
- deeper skin hydration
- skin firming and improved texture
- exfoliation for smoother more radiant skin
- calming redness and sensitivity
- clearing and preventing blemishes
- to fade brown spots and pigmentation
I do this step both in the morning and at night. The last few months I’ve been using Revision Skincare Hydrating Serum that I picked up at AYA Medical Spa. When it comes to serum, it’s worth the splurge {ha, see what I did there? #momjoke}.
Step 4: Moisturizer- This step changes with my morning vs my night routine. During the day I always follow up my serum with a vitamin C based moisturizer. Vitamin C promotes skin regeneration by boosting your skin’s collagen production. This will help make skin firmer and smooth out fine lines and wrinkles. I am currently using Revision Skincare Vitamin C Lotion every morning. After I use the Vitamin C lotion, I use my Tinted SPF Moisturizer. I do not leave home without some sort of SPF on my face!
At night I use a much heavier moisturizer after my serum. My current obsession is definitely a splurge but it’s worth it, La Mer Little Miss Miracle Hydration Cream. This moisturizer is so heavy it feels like I’m putting baby diaper cream on my face! It’s amazing and I have definitely seen improvements in my skins hydration since using it.
Additional Steps
As you can see my skin care routine is very LONG but simple. On top of everything I do on a daily basis {all the steps above}, I also incorporate different products and procedures into my weekly and yearly skin routine.
- Retinol (vitamin A)- A few times per week I add a vitamin A serum after my usual hydrating serum to my night time routine. Pure and potent retinol regenerates and renews skin tone and texture, creating a vibrant and healthy complexion. Helps reduce fine lines and wrinkles.
- Black Mask- Once per week I have started using
Revision Skincare Black Mask to help pull impurities off my face. I look hilarious but it leaves my face super soft after using it! It’s made with two different types of clay, Kaolin & Bentonite that help unclog pores and absorb oil and impurities. It also has silt derived from the freshwater lakes of Eastern Europe that nourish your skin, and Salicylic Acid encapsulated in nanospheres, increases cell turnover that smoothes the skin and reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. - Routine Facials- Not going to lie, this is something I added to my yearly routine as soon as I turned thirty. I used to think facials were a luxury and just something you did to relax! Although this is true, facials are also important for your skins overall health and appereance. Since I have such dry skin, I especially love doing hydra-facials a few times per year. Experts recommend (if budget allows) to get a facial every 3 months to keep skin healthy.
- Microneedling- This is the first big step I’ve taken to slow down the anti-aging process. I have never done Botox or any other procedure besides facials before I did microneedling for the first time last month. The name itself sounds scary but I am here to tell you that it’s not! If you check out my Instagram Story Highlights under BEAUTY, you can see the whole process of microneedling. It was easy and painless and left my skin feeling the softest it ever has! I got my procedure done at AYA Medical Spa and it was a wonderful experience! Remember you get 20% off your first service with promo code PEACHES20!
I hope this post is helpful for anyone looking to change up their skin care routine. I have tried so many routines but this has been the easiest one for me to do consistently. Now that I am 31, I take this very seriously and hope you will too! Please feel free to email me with any questions!
