Happy Wednesday pretty friends! Today I want to tell you about an amazing restaurant located in called Cooks & Soldiers. What sets this restaurant apart from the rest is not the exquisite presentation, or even the delectable food- it’s the customer-centered passion that goes into running the restaurant.
Cooks & Soldiers is part of the beloved Atlanta Castellucci Hospitality Group (CHG). If you live in Atlanta you have definitely heard or dined at one of these fabulous restaurants- Double Zero, Cooks & Soldiers, Iberian Pig and Sugo. My husband and I have been to all of them except Sugo and I can honestly tell you that they are all exceptional restaurants. From the moment you walk into any of the CHG restaurants you notice a common theme, genuine hospitality. Their success is built on one single factor: great people. The CHG mission is “Passionately pursuing the perfect dining experience one guest at a time.” From personal experience, it’s a mission they perfectly execute.
Although all their restaurants are delicious, my favorite would be Cooks & Soldiers. Located across Westside Provisions District, Cooks & Soldiers draws its inspiration from the people and the cuisine of the Basque Country in Spain and France. The Spanish call it Pais Vasco; the Basque say Euskal Herria. Regardless of nomenclature, it stands for thousands of years of fierce independence, cultural autonomy, and unrivaled cuisine.
The restaurant takes its name from the annual festival of Tamborrada in San Sebastian. Celebrating both its culinary and military history, the citizens of San Sebastian dress up as either Cooks or Soldiers and parade through the streets every January for a 24-hour, city-wide celebration.
What To Try
A few dishes I recommend trying on your next visit are-
The Bikini: White American grilled cheese, Jamôn Ibérico, black truffle, on white bread
Ensalada Atun: Arugula, tuna conserva, orange, quinoa, yogurt, lemon
Pan Con Tomate: Bayonne Ham, grilled bread, fresh tomato, raw garlic
Buttermilk Doughnuts: Espelette and hazelnut chocolate sauce, fruit preserves, cinnamon and sugar
As you can see by my pictures each dish is beautifully presented, but what you can’t see is how incredibly delicious each tasted. The Bikini is a “big kid” grilled cheese- I mean it has black truffle so you know it’s a game changer. I could eat a few of these each day and be the happiest girl in world! I highly {I mean HIGHLY} recommend ordering a round of the Pan Con Tomate. This dish is proof that the most basic dishes are usually the best- ham, fresh tomatoes on perfectly toasted bread. What I loved most about it was that you could taste and savor every single ingredient. Absolutely divine!
I hope I helped you find a new restaurant to try this weekend or perhaps I gave you a little guidance on what to order next time you visit! But rest assure my friend- you can’t go wrong with ordering any dish at Cooks & Soldiers. Whether you are looking for a perfect place to meet the girls for drinks and small bites, or you are looking for a romantic restaurant to try, Cooks & Soldiers is for you.
