When it comes to preparing the perfect southern dish, Chef Art knows exactly what he’s doing. Born in Jasper, Florida, Chef Art was exposed to southern cuisine while growing up on a farm. Inspired by his loving mother, Chef decided he wanted to dedicate his life to the art of cooking. And lucky for us, one of Chef Art’s masterpieces, Southern Art, is located here in Atlanta.
For those of you who don’t know who Chef is, take one visit to his restaurant in Buckhead and you’ll become a fan. Located inside the Intercontinental Hotel, Southern Art is a true depiction of modern Southern food. Although its best known for its delectable fried chicken, Souther Art also offers healthier options as well. From fresh fish to locally sourced vegetables, Southern Art has something for everyone.
Chef Art is not only a culinary artist, but he is also a compassionate advocate of nutrition. Together with his husband, Jesus, they found Common Threads in Chicago. Common Threads is a non-profit charity that focuses on teaching children about different cultures through food and art. Common Threads has served thousands of healthy meals to children since 2003. By sharing the delight of cooking and delicious recipes, in conjunction with practical life-skills in health and nutrition, Common Threads has been changing lives.
Whether you are in the mood for some buttermilk fried chicken, or rather go in for a pan seared Carolina trout, Southern Art is the place to try.
