As a nutrition student people are always asking me, “what should I eat?” Well in a perfect world we would just eat all natural, fresh, raw food right? But lets face it- that usually feels impossible to do. I am a nutritionist who believes in moderation and variety. You don’t have to just eat vegetables every day to stay healthy. Just keep in mind- if you are going to eat something you know is bad for your body (ahem..a delicious burger) make sure you skip on the milkshake or soda. The good food should always outweigh the bad in your balance. I don’t believe in extreme diets but rather a lifestyle change. If you think that just by dieting and not doing some exercise will make you skinny- then you are setting yourself up for disappointment my friends. But this post is not about weight loss- this post is about making yourself healthier! One way that I do this is by trying out different juices that contain vital nutrients my body needs.
Thanks to my sweet friend Brooke from The Reynolds Group, I was introduced to amazing juices here in Atlanta called Bamboo Juices. Bamboo is a cold pressed juice company that utilizes organic ingredients and the highest quality products on the market to maximize the nutritional value of each juice. Ingredients and combinations used for each drink are carefully crafted so that each juice, almond milk and elixir shot is more than a drink, but a health tonic.
It might be hard to believe but even though I am a nutrition student, I have never tried a juice cleanse. My view of juice cleanses is that they are exactly that- a healthy way to cleanse our bodies. Every nutritionist has a different opinion about juicing but I wouldn’t recommend doing more than a 3-day cleanse if its strictly juice. Our body needs more calories and protein than a long-term juice cleanse can offer. But if you are like me and want to give it a shot- go with Bamboo Juices.
I decided to try the Liver Cleanse which is one of their more difficult cleanses because you consume a small number of calories in one day. I went with this one because I strongly believe if you have a strong liver- you can conquer the world! Your liver is incredibly important and keeping it healthy should be a huge priority.
You begin the cleanse with drinking lemon water to hydrate your body for the day. Then you drink one juice every two hours for the rest of the day. Bamboo gives you a timeline and the list of juices you need to drink in a specific order. My personal favorite was the Spinach Apple juice. It was incredibly fresh and tasted like a delicious, healthy lemonade. I also liked the Sweet Celery Almond Milk because it was so smooth and made me feel like I was drinking a milkshake!
What made the Bamboo Juices different from other juices is how I could taste every single ingredient. This was especially evident in the Carrot Coconut juice. You could taste the freshness of the carrot and the sweetness of the coconut. Surprisingly a delicious pair! Also, the people who are behind Bamboo Juices makes them stand out. Kelley, founder and CEO, is passionate about nutrition and making it accessible to everyone. Her goal is to transform the health of her customers by offering the highest quality and freshest product.
Oh and here’s a little secret…Bambo Juices is currently running an amazing deal on Scoutmob. You can get a full cleanse {$50 value} for only $35! Pretty amazing right? Make sure you don’t pass this offer up!
