All Eyes On Karoo

Happy Thursday my friends! Today’s post is all about loving your eyes. Most of you probably don’t know I wear glasses for nearsightedness. When I was 18 years I even had Lasik surgery! But unfortunately, after years of being in school and looking at screens, my vision deteriorated. Lucky for me Karoo just opened up and I got an adorable set of new glasses.

This unique store that provides a wide selection of fashionable, yet affordable eyewear is located in Ponce City Market. Karoo offers a single price point of $149 for a complete pair of eyeglasses including any frame in the store and single vision lenses. They also have a large selection of prescription sunglasses priced at $249.

“We saw a need to combine stylish eyewear and value with a state of the art eye exam and a lab on site,” says owner Dr. Gavin Cohen. “There are price conscious competitors who sell trendy frames, but customers need a prescription to make a purchase. Even with a prescription, glasses have to be mailed because they are not made in the store. At Karoo we have frames people want at a great price. We offer exams for $69 and customers usually leave with their glasses the same day.”

Owners Dr. Gavin Cohen and Mark Meyberg are optical veterans, with Optique at West Paces in Buckhead and Reflection Eyecare in Brookhaven also on their roster. However, Karoo is unique from their previous endeavors. The difference is that the duo curated an impressive line of Karoo brand frames sold directly to consumers, which provides an exceptional value to the customer.

As you can see from the pictures in this post, I had a wonderful experience. I had a hard time picking out a pair of glasses because Karoo had so many cute options! Fortunately the team members are very honest and helped me narrow it down to a few options. I wanted to change things up from my current square glasses so I went with the round pair. Dr. Lina Barry was incredibly sweet and very informative. She took the time to explain what was going on with my eyes and how I could improve my vision.

At Karoo eye health is just as important as eye fashion and both work in tandem. “We offer exceptional eye examinations that uses state of the art equipment and digital imagery as a means to educate our patients,” explains Meyberg. “Then our patients use the exam information to select the best possible eyeglasses that suit their face and their prescription.”
