A couple months ago I decided I wanted to start my own mini garden. I then ventured to the obvious garden supply store…my local Target. I found two little starter kits in the dollar section (best section ever by the way) and headed home to attempt to become a gardener. In the past I have not been able to keep flowers or fish alive so I was a little nervous.
Almost less then a week later my first little baby sprouts came through! YEAH! Talk about excitement! Who would of thought gardening could be so thrilling. I continued to water and take care of my plants and eventually I had to transfer them to bigger homes.
I started out with just basil and cilantro but decided to try growing red bell peppers too. Since I transferred my cilantro into a bigger pot, I used the mini green house to plant red bell pepper seeds. I simply picked off some seeds from a pepper I used for dinner one night and planted them using new soil.
I honestly believe this little green house is magical. My red peppers sprouted and are growing stronger each day! They got so tall that they could no longer fit in the green house. Another successful transfer!
So what exactly are some benefits in growing your own herbs? Well my friends there are actually many health benefits besides the simple satisfaction of keeping something alive. Here are just a few:
~Growing herbs at home can save you money
~Knowing exactly what goes into your food by growing it right at home
~Not consuming pesticides or other chemicals
~Herbs are packed with nutrients
~Herbs are used as a popular form of aromatherapy
~Always having fresh herbs available for meal prep
~Tending to a garden can be a therapeutic experience for many
This is a new hobby I found to make my life more enjoyable. Have you done anything recently to make each day better? Try planting a new garden like I did! If you do please let me know what you decided to grow and how its coming along.
Xoxo,
