Happy Tuesday friends! And welcome to this years travel week on the blog! I am so excited to be sharing FOUR different travel guides with you this week. Some of these were really brief trips but I want to share everything we did during our stays. First up is the beautiful city of Nashville!
When you think of Nashville what comes to mind? I know I instantly think legendary country music and delicious BBQ! Nashville offers an abundance of some the best southern hospitality cuisine, a variety of indoor and outdoor activities, and a lively bar scene that can entice any homebody.
As mentioned above, Drew and I took a one night trip to Nashville and wanted to share a short travel guide with you all, in the hopes you will take a trip and enjoy Nashville just as much as I did!
Where We Stayed
We stayed at the Loews Hotel, located in the Music Row area of Nashville. It has a sophisticated feel with a quite luxe edge to it. The room was spacious, and welcoming with some of the most comfortable beds we have ever slept in! The wonderful staff went out of their way to be helpful with providing us information on surrounding attractions and making sure we got the best out of our trip. One of my favorite things about Loews Vanderbilt Hotel is the on site restaurant that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as the steakhouse, bar, and room service available at all times! We got breakfast in bed and enjoyed a slowed morning since we didn’t have our baby with us!
Where We Ate
Edley’s BBQ
After enjoying an early afternoon of sightseeing and sunshine, we decided to have lunch at Edley’s BBQ. If you love BBQ as much as I do you, you have to give this place a try! It’s voted the best BBQ in Nashville and you can easily tell why. We got there early so we could beat the line {I read in some reviews that the line can wrap out the door}. I ordered pulled pork tacos with the bean salad. Drew got the brisket {pictured above} with various sides. It was FANTASTIC! Hands down the best BBQ and sides we have ever had! I highly recommend making it a point to stop by Edley’s BBQ!
Five Daughter’s Bakery
After a delicious lunch, we walked over to the famous Five Daughter’s Bakery to try their cronuts! This family owned business is without a doubt making a name for themselves in the South, with three locations in Tennessee and one here in Atlanta. They boast on the fact they use the highest quality of ingredients and purchase locally organic whenever possible. They have a mouthwatering selection of gourmet pastries, including the 100 layer doughnut, the quinn, paleo crushers, vegan donuts and more.
Frothy Monkey
For a quick cup of coffee we stopped at the Frothy Monkey, where you get more than just coffee. They provide breakfast and dinner featuring a cozy approachable atmosphere which is also perfect for a relaxing evening with glass of wine, or craft beer. March through December you can partake in their Wine Down Wednesdays as well as wine pairing dinners. Another must stop while in the area!
What We Did
Drinks At the Loew’s Hotel
We kicked off the night with drinks at Mason Bar located in Loew’s Hotel. Once you walk in you can’t miss the mason jar chandelier, and their drinks nicely served in mason jars. They provide such a great selection of cocktails and the bar tenders can whip anything up from gin with their homemade tonic, or maybe you want a Mason Julep? Well, they can do that too!
Lower Broadway
I’m sure the locals would disagree but Lower Broadway is super fun if you are looking for great music options! Located in the heart of downtown, the street connects through neighborhoods, the Music Row and the popular Cumberland River front. As you’re strolling through lower Broadway be prepared to be fully entertained by musicians, tourists, neon lights, and music from all directions.
Art
The art scene in Nashville will bring some color, happiness and a whole lot of fun to your trip! There are a ton of beautiful wall murals located all over this wonderful city. The Nashville Walls Project brings in innovative artists from around the world to express themselves creatively by transforming a bare wall into a masterpiece. The stunning painted wings by Kate Montague located on 11th Ave S. Gluch Street, is considered to be most popular mural in Nashville. You can search the hashtag #WhatLiftsYou and you’ll find over 100,000 magnificent photos taken by other tourists with Kate’s wings. Another favorite of mural of mine is the “Nashville at Heat Mural” This explosive rainbow mural is rather hard to miss. Located right on the corner of 12th Ave and Dallas Ave, it makes for the perfect Nashville instagram worthy picture. There are also of a ton of museums to check out and many small galleries are making an effort to promote the arts but participating in local art walk and ehitbitions. The Art Company, First Center and the Cheekwood Botanical Garden & Museum are a few museums wroth taking the time to check out.
Shopping
After eating our way through 12 Street, we did a little shopping. There are various cute boutiques that carry local art, clothing and jewelry. For a full list of place to shop click here.
We also stumbled upon a local gem- Amelias flower truck! This flower shop on wheels is cutest way to build your own special boutique in Nashville. The truck parks in neighborhoods all over Nashville and makes buying flowers even more beautiful and exiting than it already is. Her collection is unlike your ordinary flower shop providing a unique range of greens, olive branches, eucalyptus, roses and mums, with prices ranging from $1.00 to $6.oo per stem.
Hope you enjoy your stay in Nashville!
