Happy Wednesday friends! Today we are going to continue with our baby week and feature a baby friendly smoothie bowl recipe. These little bowls are a perfect way to sneak fruit, vegetables and water into your babies diet. My little boy, Robinson, has loved smoothie bowls since I introduced them to him at 7 months old!
Please keep in mind this information is for babies on a normal, non-allergen diet. If your baby has special needs or has allergies, please consult your pediatrician or registered dietitian before trying a smoothie bowl. For everyone else, the biggest things to keep in mind when making these smoothie bowls is-
- NO honey before baby is 12 months old
- NO cows milk before baby is 12 months old {whole milk yogurt is okay after 6 months!}
Other than that you can have a lot of fun and get creative with your smoothie bowls! I don’t usually add milk to Robinson’s smoothie bowls but you can once your child is over the age of one. For the base, I usually only add water and baby yogurt. My favorite baby yogurt is Happy Baby Whole Milk Yogurt because it’s organic and has no added sugar. I can usually find various options at Publix and Target. After adding yogurt and water, I then add spinach, 1/2 a frozen banana and more frozen fruit. Lastly, I top it with more soft fruit and honey-free granola.
I also use a mini Stainless Steel Fruit Cutter to make pretty little stars and hearts out of dragonfruit, bananas and mango. Robinson loves grabbing the fruit off the smoothie bowl to snack on while I’m feeding him the smoothie bowl!
Please let me know if you have any questions! Enjoy feeding your sweet baby!
