Happy Sunday friends! And happy EAT PRETTY kick off day! Although the actual challenge does not begin until tomorrow, I wanted to give you enough time to mentally prepare for what is coming. In my opinion, the first week is the most difficult. Don’t get discouraged by this- I promise it will get better!
For those of you who are new to the challenge, you are probably wondering what exactly is this #eatpretty19? Back when I was in graduate school a few years ago, I developed the first ever #eatpretty challenge to help start the new year right. The name of the challenge came from a book I read called Eat Pretty, by Jolene Hart, where she gives detailed information on how food affects our beauty. Each week’s challenge has been inspired by her book and my experience as a registered dietitian.
I will be incorporating a lot of my education and real nutrition research into this challenge as well. I truly feel well equipped to educate others on the beauty of healthy eating. My goal for this challenge is for you to come out feeling better about the way you eat AND ready to take on the rest of the year by developing new, healthy lifestyle skills.
Like last year, we will also be doing a beauty/wellness challenge every week. These beauty/wellness challenges will focus on helping us feel pretty on the outside! During week two, the beauty challenge is to give one compliment to someone every day. There is nothing more beautiful than to spread kindness!
eat pretty and feel pretty
The challenge will be broken down into 4 weeks (the whole month of February) since research shows that it takes 21 days for habit to be formed. Each week will bring a new challenge, both food related and beauty/wellness related. Along with nutritional information, I will also be featuring a delicious, healthy recipe each week. Remember to incorporate my Pinterest and maybe even make your own special board just for the challenge! I will also be adding a very special Instagram Live segment every Wednesday night to the challenge. I will be interviewing women in the wellness community that I have met and admire. You won’t want to miss those!
Join in on the community of women who are doing this challenge by using hashtag #eatpretty19 on your pictures via social media. I will feature pictures that you tag me and use the hashtag on my Instagram story!
Here is the list of what the four food challenges will be:

Each week we will do one challenge at a time then move on-to the next. We won’t stack the challenges. For example, once hydration week is over (next Monday) we can drink coffee again!
Also, you are allowed ONE cheat day each week. The reason behind this is to introduce you to my 80/20 rule. Wait..what’s that? Well it’s when we try to eat healthy 80% of the time but allow ourselves to enjoy any food {aka unhealthy food} 20% of the time. I hope that will make this week a little easier for you!
This challenge does not have the sole purpose of “cleansing” your bodies, like for example- a week long juice cleanse. This challenge is to get your body healthy by incorporating exercise and clean eating. Cleansing will naturally happen with your new clean eating methods.
If you have any questions along the way, please don’t hesitate to e-mail me. My email address is luisa@peachestopearls.com. Although I cannot give you an individual meal plan, I can help answer any questions of what you can and can’t eat.
Tomorrow I will doing a full post on week one’s challenge- hydration. If you haven’t already, make sure you sign up HEREto receive my challenge emails!
Good luck my pretty friends!
